Billy West trivia....

"Forgive me for being cocky, but if there's an alien I can't kill, I haven't met it and killed it yet."

Ahh the greatness of Billy West.

Here's some things I didn't know before....

Bill West has voiced the following animated characters:

-Ren

-Stimpy

-Doug (remember that Nickalodean show, "Doug"?)

- The Bee from the Honey Nut Cheerio commercials

- Bugs Bunny and Elmer Fudd in "Space Jam"

- The M&Ms in those commercials.

- The Pointy haired Boss from "Dilbert"

- Many many other spare characters

- And of course, the greatness of Fry, Zoidberg, Zapp Brannigan, Professor Farnsworth, Nixon.... etc

Me Like Hockey....

"ehh....You guys smell that?"

My long awaited thoughts, on Mr. Eric Lindros.

Once upon a time, Lindros was a #1 draft pick. He was big, he was nasty, he could get in around the goal and put them in like crazy. He won the MVP trophy in 1995. I hated him, because he was greatness, and he'd kick your ass pretty hard if you wanted to see him be greatness up close.

Then he had something like 8 concussions. He hurt his wrist. He got old. He's an old spare making almost the veteran minimum. And as such....

Eric Lindros = A Band Aid. A temporary fix.

Eric Lindros = Deodorant, for the horrible stench of letting Jason Arnott just walk out of here without even making him an offer. It still makes me mad.

Here's the good news. Eric has yet to win a Stanley Cup. Neither has Matt Barnaby. Neither has Jeff Halpern.

These 3 players have something else in common. They're incredibly annoying, to play against, that is. The Stars are going to be incredibly annoying to play against with these three roaming the ice, plus don't forgot Otter, Morrow, and Robidas as well. Annoying Annoying. It's going to be great if they can get that chemistry going.

Still, where are the goals going to come from?

Here are the lines the way I would have them....

Jokkinen, Modano, Lehtinen

Morrow, Lindros, Barnes

Hagman, Halpern, Barnaby

Ott, Modry, Miettinen

At D-man, we add Sydor. Rather we re-claim him. Welcome back dude. You are the man. Watch the incredible heart, determination and greatness of Darryl Sydor below...... \/

Will the Stars be ok this year? I don't know. But we just bought our season tickets, so here's hoping....
Game 6, Stanely Cup Finals, 2000

This was greatness. The guy was hurt, he had a broken bone. He wouln't give up on the play.

This is a REAL hockey player right here.

Blog quick hits....

I've been very busy lately. And the Sports world has not been. Those two things = no blogging.

American Landis collapses, says it's now impossible to win; and he had been struggling the whole time. More U.S. dissappointment in international competition. Really great.

So now we suck at Tennis, Soccer, and Cycling so far this summer.

Hey, we have Basketball World Championship in Japan next month. So we could probly suck that up real good too.

Oh and maybe an American won't win the British open this weekend. Awesome.

Good news is, Americans are the best at driving cars around in a circle. Until they invent some sort of international Nascar competition. YUCK. But the rest of the world is too classy to do that stupid bs.

Anyway.....

-Dirk Shaved his head. Why Dirk? Why?

-Steve Nash shaved his head. Sorry no pictures yet. He finally figured out that his whole greasy thing wasn't working.

- The Rangers can't swing their bats worth a damn. Yeah they won their last 2, but so have the A's....

- Pirates 2 review coming. Apparently I have some people to convince as to why it was greatness.

-Dwyane Wade is playing for the U.S. this summer, and come 2008 in China, will be competing for a Gold Medal. This brings about a fundamental problem in Dallas, as I will be emphatically rooting for the U.S, but for Wade to fail. Can both of these things happen?

Unqualified Baseball remarks....

Michael Young. Wasting clutch hitting to win home field advantage in a series he won't play in.... good job though.

The All Star game has come and gone, along with the glorified batting practice that is the "home run derby."

I think the AL won..... (kidding, only kidding...)

Michael Young is extremely underrated. He's on pace to have another 200 hit season.

"Halfway" through the season, the Rangers are .500, so they basically haven't done much at all. They are in a crappy crappy division, which may be their saving grace.

There are 8 teams with better records than the Rangers, and 2 they're tied with. Yet they're in "1st place." Just one of those things I guess....

Can Anaheim suck for long?

Are the Mariners underrated?

Will Bud Selig even let a team from the AL west into the playoffs, while the Yanks or the Red Sox have to sit at home.... yucky.

Now that there is more baseball behind than in front, and the World Cup is over, and the Mavericks roster looks pretty much set now (and I will comment on that later....), I suppose we must try to pay attention to baseball.

Knowing this, the Rangers will probably fall apart now.

Where is this Adam Eaton???

Talk about a free ride.....

This is from Foxsports.com....

Man says he's tired of being mistaken for MJ

A Portland, Ore. man has filed a lawsuit for $832 million, saying he is tired of being mistaken for Michael Jordan, according to KGW-TV.

The television station's Web site says Allen Heckard filed the suit against His Airness and Nike founder Phil Knight on June 29 in county court, claiming to have been mistaken for the basketball legend nearly every day for the past 15 years.

And he's tired of it.

"I'm constantly being accused of looking like Michael and it makes it very uncomfortable for me," Heckard reportedly said.

Heckard apparently is suing Jordan for defamation and permanent injury, emotional pain and suffering. He is suing Knight for defamation and permanent injury for promoting Jordan and making him one of the world's most famous athletes.

Heckard, who stands slightly taller than 6 feet, says many people miss the fact that he is roughly six inches shorter than Jordan.

But Heckard bears a physical resemblance to Jordan because he has a shaved head, an earring in his left ear, and is in good physical shape — from playing basketball.
"Even when I go to the gym I'm being accused of playing ball like him (Jordan)," Heckard said.

Wouldn't most people consider that a compliment?

Don't wish upon these Stars....

The Stars sign Matthew Barnaby, long time agitator and tough guy with no offense; and Washington Capitals Captain, Jeff Halpern. I didn't even know his name. Some captain.

Together, the 2 registered 72 points, 2 less than Jason Arnotts 74. But hey, they're supposed to be "tough guys."

Jason Arnott meanwhile, has gone to make a good Nashville team even better.

Every team in the West is getting better.....
  • The Kings add Rob Blake (again)
  • The Coyotes add Jovanovski, Roenick, and Morrison, and just like that become real contenders.
  • The Red Wings aren't getting any worse, despite Stevey-Y's departure.
  • The Ducks added Chris freaking Pronger, of the Western Champ Oilers.
  • The Sharks have the MVP and the Rocket Richard winner.

And the Stars, what have they done?

  • They lost Jason Arnott
  • They lost Bill Guerin
  • They lost Johan Hedberg
  • They lost Willie Mitchell

AHWIOPHEGUIPWBG~!!!!! WHAT??? are they doing???

Someone explain it to me, explain to me how you lose your beautiful pieces of your hockey team without even trying to keep them, and then do NOTHING of any value in Free Agency.

The only positive, is the Darryl Sydor coming back. But is he too old now to be what he once was?

The Stars are obviously trying to be a hocky team with more passion, with more grit. Everyone saw the Oil do what they did, gritty, tough.... etc. Is that the new model for success??? NO. We're looking at a 7th place finish in '07. Modano and Zubov can't have another year like that, theyre too old. Jussi Jokinnen isn't going to win you 11 or 12 more shootout games...

Maybe the Stars figure the 8 seed got to the Finals, so there must be value there. Idiots.

The JET will stay in Dallas!

Mavericks fans rejoice, if youre smart. This guy is money in the playoffs. Sure the Finals were a different story, but they were for Dirk and J Ho as well.

The Mavericks are showing the willing to do all the kinds of things the Stars cannot, and will not. Good bye Jason Arnott. Damnit.

Anyway, today is about the JET. Jason Terry has agreed in principle to a 6 year, $50 million contract. Yowza! But he's worth it I think.

6 years is a long time, but that will make him 34 (I think) in the last year of his contract, which is great.

Next, get Josh Howard locked up for a loooong time. I fear that one won't go as well though. But Mark Cuban isn't stupid. ( I know what you're thinking, but you don't get 4 billion dollars bc youre stupid)

Anyway, Go Mavs!!!

pay attention Dallas Stars/Doug Armstrong. Let Donnie Nelson and Mark Cuban teach you a lesson.

I'm very happy about this. Love you JET.
